Robert + Pete | New York, NY

In April I had the joy of shooting Robert and Pete's wedding day in New York City. In college on Spring Break I would visit NYC and volunteer at Metro Baptist Church where Robert worked. We kept in touch over the years, and I was thrilled when Robert asked me to be a part of his and Pete's wedding day. When I was leaving New York and heading to the airport there was a sign that read, "You are now leaving the city of dreams." It's for sure how I felt when leaving the city this last time. Robert and Pete's wedding day was nothing short of a dream. It was beautiful, sincere, inspiring, and so joyful. It was an honor to be able to shoot for them and celebrate with their families.

Words from Robert about his and Pete's wedding day:

"The day and the entire weekend were so so special. It was really overwhelming (in the best way) to have all of our closest friends and family gathered together to celebrate our marriage. You spend so much time planning and coordinating that you forget what's about to go down - not the marriage itself, I was prepared for that, but all the love and support. It wasn't until I was walking down that aisle that it really hit me. From that point on, we were just on cloud nine. Thanks to all the planning and the help of so many people, everything went so smoothly (and so fast). My top moments were walking down the aisle and then at the end of the night, for the last song was Halo (Beyonce, obviously) they had Pete and I stand on chairs in the center of the dance floor and then everyone walked/danced around us in a circle. It was totally unplanned (special thanks to my friend Jacob for the spontaneous idea), but so so fun and a great way to end the night."
